Nearly 125 Shot Dead In Chicago Over Summer
Total Is About Double The Death Toll In Iraq
CHICAGO (CBS) ― An estimated 123 people were shot and killed over the summer. That's nearly double the number of soldiers killed in Iraq over the same time period.
Information from wire service reports and the Chicago Police Major Incidents log indicated that 123 people were shot and killed throughout the city between the start of Memorial Day weekend on May 26, and the end of Labor Day on Sept. 1.
According to the Defense Department, 65 soldiers were killed in combat in Iraq. About the same number were killed in Afghanistan over that same period.
In the same time period, an estimated 245 people were shot and wounded in the city.

RECALL CONGRESS!
Congressman Eric Cantor
Dear Friend,
Last Friday, the United States House of Representatives, under Democrat Leadership, adjourned for a 5-week vacation. Normally, no one would raise an eyebrow; however, when the Democrats left, they did so without passing any form of energy legislation. They have left for over a month without doing anything to help lower gas prices. That means we'll see another month of inaction on the energy crisis.
The Democrats left, they turned off the lights, they turned off the cameras and they turned off the microphones. But, House Republicans did not leave. That's right, House Republicans are still here, talking to the American people, demanding that House Democrats come back and ease the increasing burdens on families. Republicans are fighting so that the American people are not left high and dry.
Now, we need your help. Join us by signing this petition to call on the Democrat Leadership to return to Washington , DC, to pass a bill that will increase American energy supply, open up offshore drilling and eliminate our reliance on foreign oil.
This is supposed to be the People's House. It's unfortunate that the Democrats don't see it that way.
Sign the Petition at www.CallCongressBack.com today.
Regards,
Eric Cantor
United States Congressman
P.S. Sign the petition to Call Congress Back to lower the price of gas.

Change I can't believe in
so, If Americans live in the best homes, have kids in college, have a fine hospital on the nearest street corner, have money for not just cars, but unlike even Europeans, probably have TWO cars in the driveway, a boat, motorcycle, and a few other toys in the garage. just what are Americans SO unhappy about? is it that they can't afford a nintendo wii AND a microsoft x-box? could it be maybe that their i-pod nano does not have enough memory to hold ALL the songs they want? what is it that has Americans so disrought they want CHANGE!?!
Could it be, that Americans, those that were born of the can-do generation that won world war 2, are a bunch of whiny-assed, pansy, sniveling, crying, spoiled ass little brats? I think that is perhaps a possibility.
Our founding fathers wanted change, and we can thank them and God for it. but one must consider, Cubans wanted change, and they got Castro, China wanted change, and they got Mao, Russia wanted change, and they got Lenin, Cambodia wanted change, and they got pol pot.
Ideas, philosophy, facts, and intent makes one hell of a difference, Americans better consider this before they get all cought up in unreasoning emotionalism.

Energy in the USA
Energy
Congressman Boozman is committed to helping provide relief at the pump. It's the number one concern he's heard from you and he wants you to know where he stands on this issue. If you would like to get updates on energy issues please click here to sign up.
Boozman Bulletin: Energy
Luckily we’re not paying the national average of $4.06 when we're filling up in Arkansas, but as the average price for a gallon of regular gas nears $4 in the Natural State, it’s taking a toll on our budgets and we’re forced to stretch our dollar more than ever.
Budgets all across the state are feeling the same strains. The Benton County Sheriff’s Department changed its patrol routes in an effort to reduce fuel costs, Fort Smith’s Parks Department implemented plans to make sure its crews are more efficient with the vehicles and the State Highway Department blamed the increase in gasoline prices for having to increase its budget. That doesn’t even skim the surface of the stories you’ve told me.
The reality of rising gas prices is a costly reminder of how dependent the U.S. is on foreign oil. To alleviate the pain we’re feeling at the pump Congress needs to encourage more production of U.S. resources. This is the only developed country in the world that refuses to use its natural resources. Opening up Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), building refineries and more nuclear power plants as well as opening offshore drilling are all things Congress seriously needs to consider to help increase our domestic energy supply.
President Bush recently lifted an executive ban on offshore drilling. This is a great step and one that a clear majority of Americans are supporting. A recent Reuters/Zogby Poll found that 60% of Americans surveyed say they favor efforts to increase domestic drilling and refinery construction. This is a realistic approach that isn’t being taken advantage of. Minerals Management Service (MMS), an office of the U.S. Department of the Interior estimates only 3% of this country’s 1.76 billion acres Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) is leased for oil and gas exploration and development and more than 86 billion barrels of oil exists in undiscovered fields. At a time when we’re strapped for oil and gas, this is an area we must tap into.
There is no time like today to pass legislation to fully utilize the resources of this country. I’m a proponent of increasing the supply of domestic energy and have continually cosponsored and voted on legislation that aims to make us more energy independent. It’s in our best interest to bring legislation to the House Floor to give us what we need most, a break from high fuel prices.
Members of the House of Representatives have been challenged to sign a pledge that states "I will vote to increase U.S. oil production to lower gas prices for Americans,” and I gladly signed on. In encourage my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support this issue. The hardships the high cost of fuel is causing isn’t a partisan issue, it’s a matter of wellbeing and I’m ready and willing to take immediate action.

Boozman’s Plan to Help Lower Gas Prices Savings
Bring onshore oil online (ANWR, Shale) $.70 - $1.60
Bring deepwater oil online (OCS)
Bring news refineries online (none since 1976) $.15 - $0.45
Halt oil shipments to SPR
FACT
In 2007, the United States consumed over 142 billion gallons of gasoline.

I'm on the wrong side of the law
My Son-in-law sent me this little eye opening bit of information.
Don't forget to read comparison chart after the pics...
CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THIS IS?
New Cook County Correctional Center, Chicago , Illinois
( I guess if I ever break the law, I'd better do it in Illinois!
Homeless people should have it so good!)
Once again the taxpayer gets stung.
It also shows that in most cases the quality of life for prisoners has improved considerably from what you might expect.
And I always thought prison was for punishment.!!!!!
Just in case you ever get these two environments mixed up, this comparison chart should make things a little bit clearer:

Hope and Change
Despite the anxieties of these times, happiness has been on the rise around the world in recent years, a new survey finds.
The United States ranks 16th.
Previous research has found that happiness is partly inherited and that money doesn't buy much of it.
and here's the juicy part:
A survey released last week found one reason America doesn't top the list: Baby Boomers are generally miserable compared to other generations. Further, a public opinion poll released by the Pew Research Center in April found that 81 percent of Americans say they believe the country is on the "wrong track." The response is the most negative in the 25 years pollsters have asked the question.
Yup, the boomers, the generation that had everything handed to them, who've lived in the most prosperous times of the most prosperous country. America's whiny-assed generation. go figure.

Ayatollah Sistani is smarter than a 5th grader, are you?
In a recent comment by his representative, Ayatollah Sistani told Iraqi officials not worry about the politicians who are running on a cut and run platform (Obama)...
They are just saying that because it's election time
"The pledges to withdraw from Iraq given by (officials) from occupation forces countries are only for elections sake ", Ahmed al-Safi, a representative of Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, said at Friday prayer speech in Karbala.
The cleric noted "the reality of their pledges is that they desire their troops to stay in (Iraq)".
former Obama advisor, Samantha Power, said the same thing to the BBC before she was let go by the Obama campaign:
The only thing I believe Obama on is his desire to raise taxes, disarm the U.S. in the face of hostile enemies, keep us from energy independence, and piss money away on the popular hysteria of the month, global warming, so he can help his buddy Al Gore make millions on our tax dollars.

Thanklessness
'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll
data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true, given the source,
right?
The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the
direction the country is headed, and 69 percent of the country is unhappy
with the performance of the President. In essence, 2/3's of the citizenry
just isn't happy and want a change.
So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What are we so
unhappy about?''
Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week?
Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and
heating in the winter?
Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?
Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time, and see
more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?
Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic
Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through
each state?
Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the
way that can provide temporary shelter?
I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the
world is just not good enough.
Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and
provide services to help all, and even send a helicopter to take you to the
hospital.
P erhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may
be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of
trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to
extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.
Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or
prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest
will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.
This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping
and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers
own cell phones and computers.
How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy
that are the envy of everyone in the world?
Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy.
Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has
ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for
its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the
world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate
about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.
I know, I know. What about the President who took us into war and has no
plan to get us out? The President who has a measly 31 percent approval
rating? Is this the same President who guided the nation in the dark days
after 9/11? The President that cut taxes to bring an economy out of rec
ession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the
book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from
terrorist attacks?
The Commander-In-Chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending
you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show?
Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a
look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?
Think about it...are you upset at the President because he actually caused
you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to
kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.
Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have
volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom.
There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go.
They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' d
ischarge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a
''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig.
So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of
Americans? Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds,
it leads; and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash
with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the
corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations.
They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by
'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a
murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about 'how he didn't kill his
wife, but if he did he would have done it this way'...Insane!
Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the
TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird
cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is
exponentially more good than bad.
We are among the most blessed people on Earth, and should thank God several
times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.
'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding,
severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and
with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attac ks, 'Are we sure this is a
good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

The blame game
Why do we have a government that behaves like a spoiled bratchild? because WE elected f--kin idiots into office! we value beauty over brains! WHY! WTF for? what's next? elect Paris Hilton as President? sadly, I don't see that too far from the truth. look at who we weeded out and who we kept this primary season!
Why do kids shoot up their school? because their parents did not bother to instill values in them, and probably let the TV babysit them at every opportunity. why are kids today so stupid? because we let stupid people run the DOE, and the school boards, and let our schools buy history textbooks from revisionists, social studies curricula from communist social engineers. What the hell is wrong with us? why are we allowing the globalist agenda to march forward undeterred by even a few questions about the future, and what that might mean? why did we allow ourselves to get addicted to foreign oil? and refuse to produce oil on our own, which our fathers used to do? even in light of today's prices nobody even wants to consider opening production and our government continues to vote against any such proposal. thank you representatives!
We are trading our freedoms for a few promises of free shit from a government that can't deliver, and we KNOW IT!! why don't we do something about it?

High school antics have changed
since I was in school
Subject: Montbello High School in CA
I guess they already finished their English homework!!! Montebello High School in California
You will not see this heart-stopping photo on the front page of the NY Times, nor on the lead story of the major news networks. The protestors at Montebello High School took the American flag off the school flag pole and hung it upside down while putting up the Mexican flag over it. (*See pictures below*)
I predict this stunt will be the nail in the coffin of any guest-worker/amnesty plan on the table in Washington. The image of the American flag subsumed to another and turned upside down on American soil is already spreading on Internet forums and via e-mail.
Pass this along to every American citizen in your address books and to every representative in the state and federal government. If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be amazed when you no longer have a nation to call your own nor anything you have worked for left since it will be 'redistributed' to the activists while you are so peacefully staying out of the 'fray'. Check history, it is full of nations/empires that disappeared when its citizens no longer held their core beliefs and values. One person CAN make a difference.
One plus one plus one plus one plus one plus one........ .
The battle for our secure borders and immigration laws that actually mean something, however, hasn't even begun.
If this ticks YOU off...PASS IT ON! IF IT DOESN'T IT SHOULD.

Selective outrage?
Do you think this shrink would say this about separatist fundamentalist Muslims too? who share this same passion for forced marriages of young girls? I won't hold my breath for that. what you see in Britain today will probably be here tomorrow.
I'm not supporting the FLDS here, What I would like to see is some equal treatment under the law. You see teenage girls in secular schools pregnant all the time, is there any military style raids taking place in public schools over this issue? no.
You see forced marriages in the Muslim, Hindu, and Sikh communities all the time, any military style raids to combat this problem? no.
So, what's the difference?

The necessary bill of 'aint's
NEW PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION
This is probably the best e-mail I've seen in a long, long time. The following has been attributed to Lewis Napper who was the Libertarian Party candidate for U.S. Senate in Mississippi at the time he wrote it.
"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren
ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.
ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.
ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.
ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes . (This one is my pet peeve...get an education and go to work....don't expect everyone else to take care of you!)
ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.
ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.
ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.
ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)
ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.
ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! (Lastly....)
ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!
If you agree, share this with a friend. No, you don't have to, and nothing tragic will befall you if you don't. I just think it's about time common sense is allowed to flourish. Sensible people of the United States speak out because if you do not, who will?
